Mammoth reading a meteorite book

Tucson, Arizona, January 31, 2010

In 2009, I began to make books out of meteorites.  Upon completion of the first meteorite book, I was invited to exhibit it at GeoDécor during the Tucson Gem and Mineral Show in Tucson, Arizona.  The Gem and Mineral Show is really amazing, and the GeoDécor showroom is one of the most remarkable displays of fossils and meteorites that I have ever encountered. Over the course of the week, we moved the meteorite book around, usually displaying it along side other meteorites.  However, one day, we decided to display it under one of the largest mammoth skeletons in the world.  The mammoth was a patient and thorough reader.  This particular book was commissioned by Whitman College (Walla Walla, Washington) and is now on permanent display in the Hall of Science.
